My Name is Susan Le and I've been
practicing Thai Yoga since 2003. I'm a Physical
Therapist Assistant, and also incorporate Thai Yoga into
my therapy sessions. I am currently attending college to
pursue a career in sports/physical medicine.
Thai Yoga is an ancient form of
therapeutic healing bodywork which originated in India.
It was believed to have been introduced to Thailand over
2500 years ago by Ayurvedic physicians and Buddhist
monks. Thai Yoga is also known as “Lazy man’s Yoga”
because the practitioner supports the client in
stretches that are yoga poses.
In many cases, the client can
experience the benefit of poses that would be difficult
to achieve unassisted, because it can take years to
develop the requisite strength, balance and flexibility
to achieve the poses in a solo yoga practice
Clients who have active yoga practices
often find that regular Thai yoga therapy sessions
enhance their practice, allowing them to stretch, "open"
more quickly and avoid injury. The session combines
energy balancing, therapeutic stretching, joint
mobilization, and assisted yoga poses.
Thai yoga therapy has many benefits
including
Stress and pain relief
Better resistance to injury
Improved range of motion
Release of lactic acid and other toxins from areas of
accumulation
